Purpose

The Lower Columbia Initiatives Corporation (LCIC) is a regional economic development office created in 2010 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the LCCCDTS. The LCIC drives economic growth in the Lower Columbia sub-region of the West Kootenay (Trail, Rossland, Fruitvale, Warfield, Montrose and RDKB Area A & B). The LCIC assists existing business and industry to maintain a healthy economic climate, while identifying and pursuing new opportunities (www.lcic.ca).

The LCIC works collaboratively to develop and implement strategies that will assist in strengthening the local economy and is committed to a cohesive, comprehensive, region-wide approach to the challenges and opportunities of economic development in the Lower Columbia Region.

Functions

  • Attract new investment by promoting competitive advantages of existing assets and lifestyle.
  • Drive economic development by advancing identified opportunities with existing businesses; and leveraging strategic partnerships.
  • Cultivate expertise through awareness of economic development trends, innovation and best practices.
